Antiques Displayed at Creston Blossom Festival - May 15-17, 2009

Five members of Grand Forks Fire/Rescue accompanied three of our antique fire apparatus to Creston on the Victoria Day weekend to participate in the annual Creston Valley Blossom Festival. The theme of this years festival was a salute to firefighters, particularly commemorating the 110th anniversary of Creston Fire & Rescue.

The highlight of the parade, and winner of "best in show" was Grand Forks' 1901 Steam Pumper, drawn by a team of horses from Revelstoke. Our 1929 Chevy and 1944 Bickle were also in the parade.

The apparatus were also displayed in the Classic Car Show and Shine on Canyon St on Sunday, and took first and second places in their category.

Grand Forks Fire Rescue would like to thank the people of Creston for the warm welcome that was extended to us and the enthusiasm they showed for our antiques, and particularly to Creston Fire & Rescue for the invitation and for arranging the team of horses to pull the steam pumper.
